Abstract
996,459. Photographic processing apparatus. ILFORD Ltd. July 19, 1963 [Aug. 2,1962], No. 29790/62. Heading G2A. The main tank 10 of a processing apparatus, containing developer solution, has above it a closed reservoir tank 11, connected to tank 10 by a pipe 12 ending just below the liquid surface. A second main tank 13, containing fixer solution, similarly has above it a reservoir tank 14; the connecting pipe, however, extends well below the level of the liquid in tank 13. An overflow pipe 15 is provided for the latter. The space above the liquid in the two reservoir tanks are connected by a pipe 16. As the liquid in tank 10 is used up, as for example by adherence to film passing through it, the liquid level falls below the end of pipe 12. This is then replenished in the usual way, by a small quantity of atmospheric air entering pipe 12, to escape into the space above the liquid in tank 11, and so forcing more liquid down pipe 12. Owing to the communication effected by pipe 16, more liquid is also forced down from tank 14 to tank 13. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the method is extended to replenishing a system of three main tanks in sequence.
