Abstract
1,105,476. Photographic development method and apparatus; automatic concentration control. PAPERS & PUBLICATIONS (PRINTERS) Ltd. Sept. 28, 1965 [Oct. 3, 1964], No.40378/64. Headings G2A and G3R. A strip 31 of exposed film is developed by passing it through a tank 12 of developer solution. An auxiliary tank 10, communicating with tank 12 through a pipe 11, has passing through it an auxiliary strip 14 of pre-fogged or exposed film, which may then pass through a tank 16 of fixing solution. The density of the developed film is an indication of the degree of exhaustion of the developer. Light from a source 21 passes through film strip 14 and then falls on a photo-electric cell 23. When the light reaching the cell increases to a predetermined level, a relay 24 is operated which controls a valve 26, allowing a replenishing supply of developer from a reservoir 27 to run into tank 12. The auxiliary tank may be omitted, and the auxiliary film strip passed through the main developing tank.
