Abstract
996,301. Rotary vacuum pumps; forcing liquids by gaseous pressure. LEYBOLD HOLDING A.G. Dec. 20,1961 [Dec. 24, 1960], No. 45595/61. Headings F1F and F1R. An oil-sealed rotary vacuum pump includes a housing 1 having an inlet chamber 71 communicating with the working chamber 2 through the abutment 5, and an outlet 15 to which the gas passes past the submerged exhaust valve 9, an oil reservoir 10 and an oil separator 12. The reservoir 10 and the separator 12 are contained a casing 11 which may be removed without disturbing the inlet and outlet connections. The oil may be expelled through a pipe 19 by closing the opening 14, thus pressurising the chamber 13. The valve 16B operatively connected to a flap for closing the opening 14 (Fig. 3, not shown). It is stated that the invention may be applied to vacuum pumps of the rotary abutment type.
