Abstract

996,233. Door operating appliance. MOFFATS Ltd. Oct. 11, 1963, No. 40260/63. Heading E2M. A door mounting structure closes an opening between two spaced, vertical, parallel walls 11 and 12, each wall having an L-shaped groove 19 therein opening towards the opposite wall and comprising vertical and horizontal portions 20 and 21, the door having two mounting elements 25 extending from each side and spaced apart a distance no greater than the length of the vertical portion so that they may be received by the grooves for the mounting of the door, the mounting elements on each side being able to traverse the grooves from when both are in the vertical portion and the door is closed to when both are in the horizontal portion and the door is open, detent means 26 being provided in the lower edge of the horizontal portion beneath the vertical portion to releasably hold the door in its closed position. The mounting elements comprise rollers mounted on stub shafts which are fixed to a mounting bracket 24. The horizontal portion of the groove is sufficiently long to permit the door when opened, to be slid into the oven for storing. The grooves may be stamped into the inner of two oven walls between which are insulation, and an electric heater 15 may be used to supply heat. Conventional rack supports 16 may be provided together with a secondary housing 17 for the mounting of the controls.
