Abstract
In a process of forming sintered rolled steel products from oxidic iron powder, the oxidic iron powder containing carbon or with carbon added as pig iron, cementite or carbon, is cold compacted to form a porous bar, e.g. at 100 Kgm./cm.2 to a density \sF 4 gms./c.c., reduced and sintered at 600-1200 DEG C. and finally rolled. Sintering is carried out in a reducing protective atmosphere which may contain carburizing gases such as methane and/or carbon monoxide. The sintered bars are cold rolled, resintered, rolled and finally annealed at 700 DEG C. A temper rolling with a 1-3% reduction may follow. Specification 996,199 is referred to.
