995,815. Rising hinges. LONDON PRESSED HINGE CO. Ltd. May 21, 1964 [Dec. 20, 1963], No. 50560/63. Heading E2F. A rising hinge for either a left or right-hand door comprises two knuckled hinge plates A, B pivotably connected by a hinge pin E with knuckle C of plate A having a downwardly extending tongue 2 with its edges forming two helices 3, 4 of opposite hand and equal pitch, terminating at a transverse end edge 5 and mating with corresponding helical edges 7, 8, formed on knuckle D of plate B. Provision is made for the door to be rotated through 180 degrees by extending the two helical edges 3, 4 to a point and correspondingly modifying the mating edges 7, 8. The screw holes 15 of both plates are countersunk at both faces and the plates may take other forms, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown).
