Abstract
995,088. Bottling. SEITZ-WERKE G.m.b.H. June 27, 1961 [June 28, 1960], No. 23176/61. Heading B8T. A rotary counterpressure filling apparatus, including a pressurized liquid container 10 with a filler head assembly 12 comprising a liquid filling valve 17 and an air valve 22, to which containers are fed and removed by input and discharge star wheels, has means whereby, after each filled container has been removed from the filler head, an air blast is forced through a pressure and return air pipe 19 for ejecting liquid residues therefrom prior to the filling of a subsequent container. Each empty container is fed upwardly against a cap 30 which forces a star wheel 14 upwardly to open the air valve to effect pressurization, after which the liquid valve is opened and the container filled. The wheel 14 then encounters an abutment and is turned so that the lower end of the rod 23 engages within a groove in the wheel and the liquid and gas valves are closed. The filled container is snifted through a valve 29 and then removed, and the wheel 14 is turned and lowered to the initial position. A cam 25 arranged between the input and discharge star wheels momentarily lifts the wheel 14 to effect a brief opening of the air valve 22 to subject the tube 19 to a short blast of compressed air.
