Abstract

991,354. Valves. SULZER BROS (LONDON) Ltd. Aug. 28, 1963, No. 34097/63. Addition to 946,275. Heading F2V. A flow regulating valve comprises a thermostat 31 having its easing secured to an adjusting member 26 which in turn adjustably engages a part 18 of the valve body secured to a main part 1 containing the valve seat 64, a movable flow regulating member 63 connected to the valve spindle by a spring, movement between the flow-regulating member and the spindle being limited by an abutment when the flow regulating member is moved in the direction of the force applied by the spring, and a spindle connection member 60 between an actuating pin 25 of the thermostat and the valve spindle 21 and pressed against the actuating pin by a spring, the member 60 and the part 18 being made of a substance which is a poor conductor of heat. A grip ring 24 and a calibrated disc 51 secured by a snap ring 50 facilitate adjustment of the member 26, rotation of the ring 24 being limited to 330 degrees by projections 55, 56. The ring 24 may also be locked after adjustment by inserting two pins into adjacent apertures on oppos.te sides of the projection 56. Snap rings 68, 69 connect the flow-regulating member 63 to the spindle 21 which passes through an 0-ring seal 71 in the lower end of a cup member 10 and is urged upwardly by a spring 19 bearing against a flange 75 on a second cup member 72. A spring spring 14 holds the latter against a snap ring 73 on the spindle 21 and bears against a ring 74 having a press fit in the top of the cup member. The thermostat is similar to that described in the parent Specification.
