Abstract
991,046. Cement guns for repairing furnaces. PLIBRICO CO. Ltd. Feb. 20, 1964 [March 1, 1963], No. 8336/63. Heading E1S. [Also in Division F4] A cement gun, particularly for repairing furnace linings with dry refractory material, is carried by a rotatable head 3 at the end of a water-cooled hollow boom 1. The head 3 is mounted by a shaft 5 within an enlarged bowl 2 at the end of the boom 1 and its position is controlled by wires secured to and passing round a drum 7 fixed to the water cooled cover 4 of the head. The gun, Fig. 4, comprises an outer annular fuel gas passage 18 connected through radial inlets 23 to the nozzle part 24 of the inner material passage, where the gas in oxygen acting as a carrier gas for powdered refractory material. The boom 1 is rotatably mounted in a sleeve 26, Fig. 5, which pivots about an horizontal axis secured to a stirrup 32, mounted to swing about a vertical axis 39. The movement of the boom 1 is controlled by an hydraulic motor 28 through gearing 29-31, and by rams 36, 42. The assembly is mounted on an arm 41 projecting sideways from the forks 45 of a fork lift truck.
