988,979. Electric lighting fittings. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 13, 1963 [Aug. 16, 1962], No. 31953/63. Heading F4R. A fitting for tubular lamps consisting of a barshaped support having a lampholder projecting laterally from each end, has at each end a transverse wall with an aperture through which a piece of conduit is secured by sealing ring and protrudes from the end so as to be similarly secured in the corresponding aperture of an adjacent fitting, one or more of the lateral walls near the ends of the support being detachably secured thereto. As shown the detachable portions 13a, 21a may carry the lampholders 18, 21b. Box-like members 13, 21, are carried on the ends of the bars 10, 20 and are formed with transverse walls 24, 25 having apertures 26, 27. A piece of conduit 30 is passed through the apertures and secured by 0-rings 31, 32, the conduit serving to carry the leads 35, 36 from one fitting to the next. In a modification the lampholder carries the transverse wall, a separate detachable lateral wall being provided.
