Abstract

988,912. Preventing unauthorised use of I.C. engines. ROSS COURTNEY & CO. Ltd. June 17, 1963 [June 29, 1962], No. 25132/62. Heading FIB. [Also in Division F2] In a fuel cock fitted with a lock for use in an internal combustion engine, the supply of fuel and the vehicle electric system or ignition may simultaneously be interrupted. The lock 2 is disposed in axial alignment and interconnected with a cylindrical plug 3 and an electric switch operating element 4. Upon turning the key the ignition circuit is completed and the flat bottom of a plug groove 8 contacts the stem to unseat a mushroom valve 13 against a light spring 15 permitting fuel to flow from inlet passage 11, via clearance 7 of equal area, around the plug 3 to outlet passage 17. The spring 15 abuts against a screw-in plug element 16 from which the spanner flats are removed after assembly. Valve 13 seats upon O-ring 14.
