Abstract

988,169. Bearings. G. & J. JAEGER, G.m.b.H. July 11, 1963 [Aug. 21, 1962], No. 27448/63. Heading F2A. A combined radial and axial roller bearing has a moving race of substantially rectangular crosssection, having a cylindrical-shaped track and two flat annular tracks; and has a stationary race of U-shaped cross-section which embraces said tracks and has complementary tracks thereon, the stationary race being divided radially in the plane of at least one of its annular tracks. In an embodiment, a moving race 1 has boltholes 2 therein and has a cylinder-shaped track 5 and flat annular tracks 4. A stationary race comprises an intermediate ring 6, an upper disc 7 and a lower disc 8, the discs being located by dowel-pins 10 and secured together by screws 11. The upper disc 7 has an annular track 14, the lower disc 8 has an annular track 15 and the intermediate ring 6 has a cylindrical-shaped track 16. Rollers 17, 18 transmit axial loads and are in cages 20, whereas rollers 19 transmit radial loads. The cages 20 are guided by edges 21, 22 of the intermediate ring 6. In an alternative construction, the moving race 1 is the external race and the stationary race comprises an L-shaped portion and a lower disc which together form a U-shaped member.
