Abstract
988,092. Light mixer. PAKO CORPORATION. July 5,1961 [July 5,1960],No. 24369/61. Heading G2A. A light mixer for obtaining an homogeneous mixture of light from a plurality of light sources of different spectral content comprises, as shown, a chamber 20 having diffusely reflecting interior surfaces (e.g. coated with white acrylic latex paint), openings such as 26, 27 for admitting light from sources 41 by way of filters 65 and an opening 31 through which the mixed light may pass to a diffusing plate 32 and negative carrier 69. For directing light from the lamps 41 through the openings 26, 27 each lamp is provided with a spherical reflector 56 and an ellipsoidal reflector 45, the reflectors being mounted for easy removal. Heat absorbing filters 66 are provided adjacent each opening 26, 27 and the lamps 41 are cooled by streams of air driven through holes 18 communicating with a hollow base 17 by a blower 19 (Fig. 2 not shown). Inclined reflectors 81 are provided adjacent each opening 26, 27 to provide for more uniform mixing of the light. The mixer may be used for contact or projection colour printing and, preferably, there are two each of red, green and blue filters chosen so there is no overlap in the region of sensitivity of the print material.
