Abstract

1328610 Studio or stage lighting system COLUMBIA BROADCASTING SYSTEM Inc 9 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 27124/72 Heading F4R A studio or stage lighting system comprises at least three fluorescent light sources respectively containing blue, green and red colour-emitting phosphors and operative to emit light containing primary colours and a corresponding number of primary colour filters each positioned to filter light from the corresponding light source. The arrangement of sources and filters being such that the light emitted matches the colour sensitivity of a T.V. camera. In an embodiment red fluorescent light sources 14a and 14d are located behind red filters 15a and 15d while blue fluorescent light source 14b and green fluorescent light source 14c are located behind appropriately coloured filters 15b and 15c. Alternatively sources 14c and 14d may be red with sources 14a and 14b being blue and green respectively. Separate elliptical reflectors 12a to 12d may be used or a unitary metallized plastics moulding. Dimmers and ballasts are associated with each source (Fig. 1, not shown). In a colour T.V. studio (Fig. 9, not shown) three rows of lighting systems are used one row mounted on the floor and two rows mounted on the ceiling. (For Figure see next page.)
