Abstract

987,860. Valves. PEEBLES & CO. Ltd., and R. & A. MAIN Ltd. June 21, 1962 [June 21, 1961], No. 22415/61. Heading F2V. The outlet 3, Fig. 4, of a weight-loaded diaphragm-type gas-governor has an auxiliary passage leading to a pilot burner via a duct 13, flow to which is controlled by a tapered movable closure member 16, Fig. 3. The stem 17 is threaded into the outer end of the passage and embodies a knob 18 within a movable peg 19 engageable with a body abutment 20; an axially slidable resilient sealing ring 21 is disposed on the stem. The valve may be dismantled upon withdrawing the peg 19. In a modification, the auxiliary passage includes a tapered part 24 leading to a cylindrical portion 25 which to close the passage is engaged by a push-actuated closure member formed by a ring 26 between flanges 27, 28 on the stem 12. The inner end of the latter is partially cut away to provide for the flow of gas to the duct 13 when the ring 26 is unseated. The closure member and stem may be withdrawn upon removing a screw 33.
