Abstract

987,367. Doffing apparatus. WILLCOX & GIBBS SEWING MACHINE CO. Ltd. Dec. 6, 1963 [Dec. 19, 1962], No.48220/63. Addition to 965, 166. 'Heading D1D. In the apparatus of the parent Specification, instead of using the means urging the ejector member upwardly (e.g. the spring 40) to break the driving connexion between the bobbin and the spindle as the holding means is released (e.g. as the follower 47 slips over the bottom edge of the cam-track 46), a cam 49 is provided operable in the doffing-position positively to move the ejector upwardly and thereafter to release the ejector to be moved upwardly. Fig. 4 shows the lower part of the track 46, and the follower 47 held at the bottom end 46b of track just as doffing is about to take place. As the carriage continues its travel, and the star wheel 56 further rotates the sleeve, the follower moves into engagement with a cam 49 which forces it upwardly against an inclined part 46d of the track, which rising movement breaks the driving connexion. As the sleeve rotates further, the follower slips past the part 46d for the spring to raise the ejector and doff the bobbin.
