Abstract

987,127. Combine-harvesters. R. CLAAS. April 17, 1962 [April 18, 1961], No. 14950/62. Heading A1F. In a front-cutting combine-harvester, of the kind having a vertically-rockable header 13 which is adjustably supported by a piston and cylinder device 14 and a spring 20, the spring 20 is inserted between the fixed element 17 of the piston and cylinder device and the header, and the header is freely movable upwardly relatively to the movable element 18 of the piston and cylinder. As shown, the cylinder 17 is pivoted on a bracket fixed to the harvesterframe 10, the header being pivoted at a point 12. The spring 20 is anchored to a collar 22 on the piston and rests against an adjustable stop 25 on a stem 19 pivoted to a bracket 16 on the header 13 and slidable in a blind hole 24 in the piston 18. The stroke of the spring is less than that of the piston so that the spring becomes inoperative when the header is fully raised.
