987,040. Typewriters. M. GRUNDIG, [trading as GRUNDIG ELEKTRO-MECHANISCHE VERSUCHSANSTALT]. Sept. 5, 1963 [Oct. 13, 1962; Dec. 21, 1962], No. 35122/63. Heading B6F. A driving cam 1, Fig. 2, with an eccentric bearing surface 5 for the type lever mechanism of a typewriter of the kind using a continuously rotating driving roller 4, by which said cam is driven is characterized in that the length of the roller engaging bearing surface is adjustable to vary the striking force of the type levers. In one embodiment in Fig. 2, the cam which is made of synthetic plastic materials and moulded on to a lever 2 is provided with a screw 7 whose head 8 forms the adjustable extension. In another embodiment (in Fig. 4, not shown) the gap between the cam and screw head is provided with a synthetic plastic U-shaped insert to form a bridge. In still another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the screw head is of a square cross-section the width corresponding the width of the cam surface 5. In a further embodiment, in Fig. 6, the adjustable extension is formed by a projection 26 having a bridge piece slidably received in a groove 24 of the cam 21. In a still further embodiment, in Fig. 10, the projection piece 46 has a recess 45 sliding on a nose piece 45 of the cam 41 and the projection piece is additionally guided by an arm 43 of the lever 40 engaging a groove 48 in the projection piece 46.
