Abstract
986,195. Rolling threads. SMERALOVY ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK. Aug. 21, 1961 [Aug. 25, 1960], No. 30025/61. Heading B3M. A machine for simultaneously rolling threads on a number of workpieces 11 comprises rolling heads 8 mounted on a rotating table 1, each of the heads being rotatable about its own axis. The table 1, along with workpiece holders 12, is rotated in a frame 3 by a motor 4. Rotation of the heads 8 is due to engagement of pinions 14 of each head with a fixed toothed ring 15. Vertical movement of the heads is effected by rollers attached to each head which engage an annular cam surface on the frame. Similarly, an annular cam 10 controls movement of the workpiece holders. The movement of the workpieces and rolling heads may alternatively be controlled electrically or by fluid pressure. In an alternative form the rolling heads face downwardly and are fed towards screws to be rolled by gravity.
