Abstract

1,256,358. Electro-erosion. SPARCATRON Ltd. 24 Nov., 1969 [25 Nov., 1968], No. 55832/68. Heading B3V. An electro-erosion apparatus comprises a floating head 1 carrying a plurality of tool electrodes 10 and having a cam ring 7 with a conical recess adapted to receive a cone member 8 carried by an hydraulic positioning control device, the cone member 8 being arranged for orbital movement about the control device axis so as to cause the head to describe a circular path when the member 8 engages the conical recess. The motion of the floating head is resisted by springs 9 which return the head to an initial position when the cone member 8 is retracted. The diameter of the circular path is determined by the vertical position of the cone member 8 relative to the conical recess of the cam 7. The apparatus comprises corner brackets 3, which support rods 2 supporting a frame 1 carrying the electrodes 10 and rods 4 which are in turn supported by members 5 resting on a work-table. The apparatus may be used for forming threads on the workpiece.
