947,085. Gear finishing. H. HURTH, and F. HURTH. March 6, 1961 [June 3, 1960], No. 8015/61. Heading B3K. Apparatus for finishing spur gears comprises means 16 swivelling about an axis 15 passing through the pitch circles of the gear and tool to enable gears to be crowned. The gear 23 is carried between centres on a slide 18 adjustable by a screw 20 on the bracket 16 connected by the pivot 15 to a table 14 adjustable angularly on a slide 12 traversible on an angularly adjustable support 11. The tool 27 is angularly adjustable on a slide 24. A cam engaging the bracket 16 pivots the gear for crowning, the cam being rotated by change gears. The cam may have relatively adjustable parts to vary the crowning. The spindle head, instead of the gear, may be swivelled. The cam may be replaced by a template.
