A bi-polar electrode consists of a magnesium or magnesium alloy plate coated with a thermoset or amine cured composition of from 50- 70% finely divided carbon and from 50-30% of epoxy resin as defined in the Specification. The epoxy resin surface may be given a conductive coating of e.g. silver.
