Abstract

A layer of silver is applied to an aluminium mould which is coated with an electrically non-conductive layer, e.g. of varnish or aluminium oxide, by immersing the mould in a solution comprising 3.75 gms. of silver nitrate, 3.75 gms. of 38 vol. per cent ammonia, and 0.5 cl. formaline of 40 vol. per cent per litre of water for 10 minutes. A layer of nickel is then electrodeposited on the silver.
