Abstract
An electrically insulating body is coated, at least in part, with an incompletely cured synthetic resin adhesive, sensitized with a metal salt solution and finally coated with a metal, other than silver, by deposition from solution the curing of the resin then being completed (e.g. by the application of heat or pressure). The sensitizing solution may be an acidified solution of a precious metal salt, e.g. Au, Pt or Pd) and a wetting agent may be added as well as a small percentage of alcohol. In the example copper is then applied by use of an alkaline copper sulphate solution to which a reducing agent (e.g. formaldehyde) is added. The thickness may be built up by further treatment or by electrolysis.
