Abstract

A substrate is coated with a partially cured phenolic/polyvinyl butyral adhesive which is dried, and the surface is abraded, treated with an aq. soln. of HNO3 (below 20 vol. %) followed by an oxidising agent (chromic acid), and sensitised with a reducing agent and activated with a noble metal salt soln. (PdCl2). The surface is then plated with a metal layer and the uncured resin finally hardened.The process is suitable for printed circuit prodn. with "through-hole plating"
