Abstract

A partition comprises at least two posts 37, Fig. 3, spaced apart along the length of a ceiling rail 2, Fig. 1, and a panel structure between each pair of posts which is connected to the ceiling rail by an intermediate rail 7, or is connected to each post by an intermediate rail 34, the intermediate rail in each case loosely engaging the ceiling rail or post to allow relative sliding movement therebetween in a direction parallel to the plane of the panel structure and at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the intermediate rail. The intermediate rails 7, 34 may be subjected to the action of a screw-and-nut actuated pressure element acting between the rails 7, 34 and the ceiling rail 2 and post 37 respectively. The ceiling rails 2, intermediate rails 7, and posts 37 are provided with undercut slots 3a, 10, 36 and 39 for reception of panelling or glazing elements and glazing strips 13, 68, or for reception of door hinge plates and elastically yielding door stop bars, Fig. 5 (not shown).
