985,226. Flexible closure caps. C. VIGNATI, and A. PODESTA. April 26, 1962 [April 26, 1961], No. 16058/62. Heading B8T. A metallic closure 3 comprises a base 4, a skirt 5 and an anchoring portion 8, the base and skirt of the closure being connected by a resilient corrugated portion 6 and the skirt and corrugated portion being of larger diameter than the base and disposed wholly to one side of the base. The anchoring portion 8 engages beneath the bead 2 around the mouth of a bottle or like container 1 and according to the insertion the elasticity imparted to the closure by the corrugated portion 6 allows it to conform at all points with and to snugly engage the bead 2 and to compensate for irregularities in the shape of the bead. A packing ring 5 may be provided or a disc may be fitted to the base 4.
