984,728. Road sweeping machines. BAGSVAERD SMEDIE & MASKINFABRIK A/S. May 14, 1963 [May 15, 1962], No. 19134/63. Heading E1G. In a sweeping machine having a vertically movable revolving brush 4, elongated brush elements are mounted on levers 17 pivotably mounted at 24 on brackets 18 axially slidable on the brush shaft 5 to adjust the brush diameter, the ends of the levers 17 engaging spring- loaded abutments 22 to permit deflection of the brush elements. The shaft 5 is carried in axle boxes 6 slidable in vertical guides 7 against the action of transverse torsion bars 14 through arms 13 which also form the suspension for the vehicle wheels 8. The brush is driven by an hydraulic motor 9 through a belt 10. The spring 23 may be replaced by the springs providing different loadings of the abutments 22 which, in conjunction with adjusting nuts 20, provide for unequal wear along the brush.
