Abstract

984,682. Supply systems for vehicle lighting installations. VILLOMASIPARI KUTATO INTEZET. Sept. 8, 1961 [Sept. 19, 1960], No. 32378/61. Heading H2H. The charging of a battery 7 associated with a railway vehicle is effected by a generator 1 of which the energization of the field winding 2 is controlled by a regulator 3 sensitive to the generator output voltage, the system also comprising a number of lights 8/1... 8/n which may be switched into or out of circuit at will by the passengers in the vehicle each light being associated with a resistor 10/1 ... 10/n which is switched into or out of circuit together with the light thus rendering the charging of the battery 7 virtually independent of the number of lights in circuit. During daylight switches 5/1, 5/2 are open whilst means are provided to close a switch 6 should the generator speed fall below a given value thus allowing the lights to be supplied from the battery 7 during darkness when the switches 5/1, 5/2 are closed. In an alternative embodiment each light is associated with two series-connected resistors and a switch short-circuiting one of these resistors whereby the light may be dimmed.
