Abstract

1279159 Pulse generators TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS GmbH 27 June 1969 [28 June 1968] 32762/69 Heading H3T [Also in Division G4] In a pulse generator having a trigger stage 1 for periodically interrupted operation of a plurality of parallel connected loads, such as lamps L1, L2 or L3, L4, a resistor R 0 is connected between the loads and the supply voltage in the intervals in operation such that during the intervals in operation a measuring current flows through the load to cause a volt drop which is supplied to a switch T3, T4 and if one or more of the loads fails the state of the switch T3, T4 changes during the intervals in operation in comparison with that with intact loads so that voltage divider R1, R2 alters the charge on the timing capacitor C of the trigger stage 1 so as to alter the pulse frequency of the generator. As shown in a turn indicator system for a vehicle with switch S L in the mid position the transistor T1 is on and T2 is off and relay contacts S R are open. When a turn position a or b is selected the initial voltage drop across R0 causes T2 to turn on, T1 to turn off and relay R closes its contacts S R which lights the lamps L1, L2 or L3, L4 selected. Capacitor C holds T1 off and discharges from a negative condition to a positive voltage via R T until T1 again turns on. This cuts off T2 and opens relay contacts S R . Capacitor C now discharges to its negative charged condition via R7 and R1 so that T2 turns on and T1 turns off and then the above is repeated. During the interval when the load lamps L1, L2 or L3, L4 are off and with intact loads the measuring current via R0 biases T4 on and T3 off. Failure of one or more of the load lamps L1, L2 and L3, L4 causes T4 to turn off and T3 to turn on during the interval in operation. Conduction of T3 connects an additional resistor R2 to alter the time constant and frequency of the trigger stage 1 so that an alarm lamp Lk connected across the switch contacts a, b flashes at a different frequency to that with intact loads to indicate the failure. The trigger stage 1 and indicating stage 2 apart from C, R0, relay R and the lamp loads can be in integrated circuit form. Hazard warning.-All the lamps L1-L4 may be flashed together.
