Abstract

1386798 Lamp failure alarms CAV Ltd 30 May 1972 [9 June 1971] 19577/71 Heading G4N A lamp failure alarm circuit for use with a lamp or lamps 10 and a flasher unit 13 together with a D.C. supply 11 comprises a resistance 14 connected in series between the lamp and the flasher, a switch 15 for sensing the voltage across the resistance 14 during "on" periods of the flashed supply, the switch 15 being arranged to switch on and energize a relay coil 17 when the voltage across the resistor 14 falls below a predetermined value, a pair of relay contacts 22 operable when the relay is energized to complete a circuit through the resistance 14 from the supply 11 so as to maintain current through the resistor 14 at all subsequent times, and a warning lamp 21 for providing in indication of relay operation. Under normal conditions lamp(s) 10 flash together with warning lamp 21. In the event of failure of a lamp 10, the IR drop across resistor 14 is insufficient to prevent transistor switch 15 from conducting. The relay is thus energized and contacts 22 close which renders unfailed lamps 10 continuously illuminated and lamp 21 not illuminated, this non-illumination signalling lamp-failure.
