Abstract

[Also in Division H3] An electrical annunciator comprises two parallel branches across a supply, each having an indicator lamp; means responsive to an abnormal condition at a monitoring point for establishing a predetermined state of illumination of the lamps; and manual means for changing the state of illumination of the second lamp. In one arrangement, Fig. 4, an abnormal condition applies a negative potential on line 50 to cause negative resistance diode 1411 to switch to its conducting state and illuminate lamp 16<SP>11</SP>. At the same time the change in charge on capacitor 55 Switches diode 19<SP>11</SP> to provide a circuit to lamps 20<SP>11</SP>, 20<SP>11</SP>a. The negative circuit 64 to these lamps is completed via a flasher 73, Fig. 5, which also supplies an audible alarm 70. Receipt of an alarm is acknowledged by operating ganged buttons 65, 66 which extinguish lamps 20<SP>11</SP>, 20<SP>11</SP>a and silence the audible alarm. Upon cessation of an abnormal condition the red lamp 16<SP>11</SP> is extinguished and a ringback lamp (78), Fig. 6 (not shown), is lit and the ringback alarm (84), Fig. 5 (not shown), is sounded. These are cancelled by ganged push buttons (87, 89). Further branch circuits comprising a lamp and a negative resistance diode may also be provided to indicate which alarm is " first on," Fig. 7 (not shown). If the abnormal condition ceases before it is acknowledged the lamps 20<SP>11</SP> and 20<SP>11</SP>a remain lit. In a modification, the acknowledge lamps 20111, 20<SP>111</SP>a, Fig. 4, are also extinguished by the OFF signal on line 52. A transistor may be used in place of the diode 49 with the ON and OFF signals applied to its base, Figs. 1-3 (not shown). The negative resistance diodes and lamps may be replaced by neons which serve both purposes, Figs. 8-10 (not shown).
