Abstract

1326226 Multiple flash device AGFAGEVAERT AG 13 Oct 1970 [16 Oct 1969] 48614/70 Heading H2H A multiple flash device 5, suitable for connection to a capacitor 3 chargable from a source 1 comprises a plurality of single ignition flashlamps 6-8 the resistances of which are reduced by ignition, each lamp being connected to an associated circuit breaking element 9-11, the lamps being in series with one another and each lamp and circuit breaking element except the first being in parallel with the element associated with the preceding lamp of the series. The circuit breaking elements are preferably fuses adapted to be ruptured by the heat of combustion of the associated lamps, the fuses preferably being included each as a part of a lamp. In use, upon closing the switch 4, the capacitor 3 discharges via the lamp 6 and element 9 and causes ignition of the lamp, the other lamps being shorted out by the element 9, which subsequently presents an open circuit owing to its rupture. Upon closing the switch 4 on a second occasion, the capacitor discharges through the lamp 7, via the previously ignited lamp 6, and the element 10. A testing circuit is provided whereby upon closure of a switch 12, a lamp 13 is ignited and the element 11 and therefore the lamp 8 are unused. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), each lamp (20)-(22) is connected in parallel with the circuit breaking element (23)-(25) of the preceding lamp (19)-(21), the lamps being connected in series and also the circuit breaking elements being in series with one another. A series test circuit comprising a source, switch and lamp (2)-(29) is provided in series with the last circuit breaking element (26) of the series.
