Abstract

979,969. Systems depending on two or more sources; self-contained supply systems with variable-speed generators. J. STONE & CO. (DEPTFORD) Ltd. Aug. 9, 1963 [Aug. 29, 1962], No. 33203/62. Heading H2H. To prevent starting difficulties in a vehicle or aircraft two batteries 2, 4 are provided to supply respectively the starter circuit 3 and a lighting or like load 5, a diode 6 ensuring that the starter battery 2 cannot supply the load 5. The batteries are charged from a generator 1 and a resistor 7 limits the diode current. This resistor may be inserted in the lead to battery 4, Fig. 2 (not shown) or there may be a resistor in each battery lead, Fig. 3 (not shown). The resistor(s) may be used to control the division of charge between the batteries, and a voltagesensitive relay may be connected across the battery 4 to prevent over-discharge.
