Abstract
982,592. Magnetic switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 10, 1963 [Jan. 30, 1962], No. 3536/62. Heading H2B. A magnetic contact unit is actuated by a horse-shoe magnet which is movable parallel to the unit. A member 10 carrying two permanent horse-shoe magnets 8, 9 is moved against the action of a spring 14 by a roller 16 on a spindle 15. The magnets move parallel to a pair of sealed contact units 1, 2 which are carried in adjustable cradles 3. The cradles 3 have projections 4 engaging in slots 5 in a body 6 and are retained in position by spring washers 4<SP>1</SP>. One unit is normally open and the other normally closed. A plurality of pairs of units may be mounted one behind the other, each pair being actuated by a pair of horseshoe magnets and all the pairs of magnets being controlled by a common shaft. The sequence of actuation of the pairs of contact units is determined by the relative angular positions of rollers 16. In an alternative embodiment one horse-shoe magnet actuates a plurality of sealed units mounted in a row.
