Abstract

1,007,833. Magnetic switches. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Dec. 21, 1961 [Dec. 21, 1960], No. 43853/60. Heading H2B. A selector switch comprises a linear array' either rectilinear or circular, of sealed magnetic contact devices of the type shown in Fig. 1, actuated in succession by the approach of a magnet. As shown, a plurality of contact devices 20 are mounted in a circular array and spaced apart by magnetic-flux-diverting separators 27 which prevent the simultaneous closure of two or more contact devices. Alternatively the separators may be arranged so as to allow simultaneous closure of a given number of devices. The ratio of the time for which each contact device is closed to that for which it is open is adjusted by varying the angular orientation of the contact units.
