Abstract
982,560. Filling bottles. U.D. ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Nov. 12, 1963, No. 44698/63. Heading B8T. In an apparatus for filling containers, particularly milk bottles, with liquid under vacuum and comprising a rotating closed reservoir with an upright supply pipe 28 projecting through an opening in the top wall 14 of the reservoir, the said supply pipe and a suction pipe 22 are connected in a sealed manner with the top of the reservoir by a non-rotatable casing 21 connected through said suction pipe to a vacuum source, and a resilient stationary sealing ring 35 in a holder 33 is disposed between a wall 36 of the casing and a top wall 17 of the reservoir. A nylon ring 32 rotates with the reservoir and is in rotational engagement with the underside of the holder. The liquid supply pipe extends in a slidable and air-tight manner through a sleeve 24 which has a shoulder clamped to the underside of a transverse wall of the casing, the sleeve extending loosely through an opening in the top of the reservoir. A clearance is provided between the casing 21 and a cylindrical extension 18 on the part 17 to permit slight tilting movement of the suction and the liquid supply pipes.
