A filler head for a bottle-filling machine has a liquid inlet 4 sealable by a closure body 7 whose movement is controlled by a spring 14 and the pressures in a filling container 2 and the bottle to be filled. The spring 14 is supported by pins 15 projecting radially inward from a housing 16, which act as a guide for a shaft 8 on which the body 7 is mounted, and this body has a bore leading from the interior of the shaft 8 to a pipe 10 through which gas may pass when a closure body 13 on a rod 12 is in the open position. The shape of the pins 15 is such as to permit rapid flow of the liquid into the bottle without eddies.
