Abstract
1,130,649. Filling bottles &c. HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHOENIX G.m.b.H. 21 Dec., 1966 [29 Dec., 1965], No. 57108/66. Addition to 1,096,173. Heading B8T. A machine in accordance with Specification 1,096,173 is provided with a filling head 1 with a liquid chamber 2 fed from a liquid reservoir 50 by a pipe 6. A liquid valve 4 controls supply to a bottle 21 via a pipe 24 having radial bores 25; a gas passage 26 through the liquid valve, closable by a valve 27, connects the bottle interior with the space above the liquid in the chamber. The bottle interior may also connect via a float valve 20 and a rotary valve 19 with either a high or low pressure source provided by pipes 12 and 13 respectively, the former connected to the space above the liquid in the liquid reservoir 50, and the latter to a low pressure gas container 51. Valves 14 and 15 control the pressure applied to the bottle interior via the pipes 12 and 13 respectively. Operation of the various valves is effected by eccentrics 10, 28, 16 and 17 on a shaft 9 rotated externally. When a bottle is raised to the position shown, elements 22 on a vertically raised centering bell 23 open the rotary valve 19 and the bottle interior is connected to high pressure. The shaft 9 is turned and the liquid and gas valves 4 and 27 opened, and liquid falls into the bottle; gas displaced from the bottle flows through bores 25 to the chamber 2. Before the chamber empties, the high pressure valve 14 is closed and the valve 15 opened causing liquid to flow more quickly into the bottle, and fresh liquid from the reservoir passes into the chamber. Before the bottle is filled the valve 4 is gradually closed by the eccentric 10 whilst the valve 27 remains open, enabling liquid to flow through the passage 26 into the bottle until the bottle is overfull and the float valve 20 is closed. Valves 14 and 15 are now opened and closed respectively causing the excess liquid in the bottle to be returned to the chamber 2 via passage 26. Finally the valve 27 is closed by the eccentric 28.
