Abstract

The invention comprises reactive phthalocyanine dyes of formula <FORM:0982245/C4-C5/1> wherein PC is a metal-containing phthalocyanine dye radical which may be substituted; each of A1, A2 and A3 is a phenylene radical or an alkylene radical with 2-5 carbon atoms which may be substituted, A1, A2 and A3 being different from each other; R1 is a 4-halogeno-6-amino - 1,3,5 - triazin - 2 - yl radical, in which the amino group may be substituted, or a mono-, di- or tri-halogeno-pyrimidyl radical, halogen being chlorine or bromine; R2 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-C5 alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or sulphoalkyl radical; n is 2-4; m, x, y and z are each independently at least 1 but not more than 4, with the proviso that the total x + y + z is at least 4 but not more than 6 and the SO3H and -N(R1)R2 groups are attached to any one of the radicals A1, A2 and A3. The dyes are prepared by reducing a phthalocyanine-polysulphonyl halide PC(SO2Hal)x+y+3-2 to the corresponding polymercapto-compound which is reacted with phenylating or alkylating agents or a mixture thereof which contain sulphonic acid groups and at least one -NHR2 group or a nitro or acylamino group convertible thereto by reduction or hydrolysis, so that the phthalocyanine phenyl and/or alkyl-thioethers obtained contain 2-4 SO3H groups and m -NHR2 groups or groups convertible thereto which are hydrolysed or reduced. The poly-amino compound is condensed with a polyhalopyrimidine or 2,4 - dihalo - 6 - amino - triazine or with a cyanuric halide followed by further condensation with ammonia or an amine. The dyes may be used to colour wool, silk and synthetic polyamide fibres and leather and to dye and print cellulose materials in the presence of an acid-binding agent in green shades.
