Abstract

The invention comprises mixtures of the 1 : 2-chromium and 1 : 2-cobalt complexes of monoazo dyes of formula <FORM:0985481/C4-C5/1> wherein A is a nitro-1,2-phenylene radical which may be further substituted by a chlorine atom or a methyl or nitro group, one X is a hydrogen atom and the other is a sulphonic acid group and Y is a chlorine atom or an alkoxy, aryloxy, substituted aryloxy, amino or substituted amino group. The metallized dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized nitroaminophenol with 1,8-aminonaphthol-3,6- or -4,6-disulphonic acid, forming the 1,2-chromium or -cobalt complex and reacting the complex with a halotriazine of formula <FORM:0985481/C4-C5/2> The mixture may be applied to cellulose textile materials in the presence of an acid-binding agent and yield black shades. Examples describe the preparation of the mixtures and their use in dyeing cotton. Specifications 797,946 and 870,985 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 847,635 and 952,461.
