Abstract

Looped yarn which is to be used as weft in napped, woven fabrics or articles e.g. carpets, rugs, wall tapestries, bed coverings, is produced by cutting a band of synthetic, plastic material to form therein transverse, regularly spaced, parallel slits closed at both ends i.e. bounded by the two opposite longitudinal edge portions of the band, and stretching the band in its longitudinal direction and turning it on its longitudinal axis so that the bars between the slits are formed into loops.
