A textile spinning-ring has an internal face constituting a track for a traveller, all sections of the face perpendicular to the axis of the ring being circles and all sections of the face on axial planes being concave. In Fig. 2, the ring comprises an annulus 20 with an inwardly-directed flange 21 providing a track 33 which is a zone of a sphere of which the centre is at M1 which is on the axis b, b of the ring e.g. at a point below the central plane cc of the track, preferably on the plane of the lower edge of the track. The parts 20, 21 may be wholly or partly of material e.g. steel or aluminium alloy which is a good heat conductor and has a low friction-coefficient, while the ring and its support may be cooled by fins, coolant or the Pettier effect. The traveller, which may be of steel, brass, nylon or "Teflon" (Registered Trade Mark), or a material hard enough to destroy lint &c. and thus, (it is stated) create a lubricating film,is substantiallyU-shaped with legs bent as shown to provide shoulders 34,35, the central sliding portion 33 being of smaller height than the track and corresponding in shape to the concavity of the track or being such as to assume such a shape by wear or deformation. The sliding portion also, may be an insert of steel nylon or teflon. In order to limit displacement of the ring, one or more annular elements 28, 29 of low-friction, high resilience and wear-resistance are provided in grooves in the upper and lower falls of the flange. In another form of ring, the concavity of the track has a radius of curvature smaller than the radius of the track itself and the track is provided with grooves for lubrication which improve the stability of the traveller.
