Abstract
981,084. Surgical pads. SCHOLL MFG CO. Ltd. April 18, 1961 [April 18, I960], No. 13993/61. Heading A5R. A surgical pad comprises a plurality of layers of thermoplastic material and an elastic loop, the loop and layers being secured together by a heat-sealed seam. Thus a bunion or similar pad may comprise a layer 5 of polyurethane or other thermoplastic foam with a layer of vinyl film 7, 11 on each face, sealed together by a seam 8 around the edge of the pad. An elastic retaining loop 3, which if not of thermoplastic material has its ends coated with such material, has its ends located at appropriate points on the periphery of the pad, between two of the layers, so as to be retained by the seam 8. The pad may be of any desired shape and may have a suitably positioned aperture to receive a bunion or other protuberance. Specification 874,360 is referred to.
