980,138. Shovelling machines. PRIESTMAN BROS. Ltd. Aug. 26, 1963 [Aug. 28, 1962], No. 33006/62. Heading E1F. In an excavator of the type convertible from a face to a back hoe shovel excavator having a bucket-carrying arm pivotally mounted at 29 on the outer end of a boom, the boom comprises two telescopic parts 4, 9 which can be locked together by suitable bolts or pins 36, 37, 38 in an extended or a retracted position. The inner part 4 consists of two closed box sections 22 joined by a bottom plate 23 to form a trough in which the outer part can slide. The outer boom part 9 is constructed in conformity with the invention of the referred to Specification 980,137, whilst the bucket can be attached to the arm in conformity with the invention of the referred to Specification 966,719.
