Abstract

979,211. Two part couplings. UNITEDCARR Inc. April 4, 1962 [June 29, 1961], No. 13035/62. Heading H2E. An electrical connector socket contact is provided with a body portion, a tail portion for connection to a circuit conductor and a pair of prongs 21, 22 twisted through 90 degrees about their longitudinal axes to provide a pair of laterally aligned contact areas 25, 26. The contact is formed from a blank of extra hard phosphor bronze alloy and may be plated with copper and then gold. An insulating block carrying these contacts and another block carrying corresponding plug contacts are described in which the blocks are polarized by means of studs carried thereon.
