978,951. Mattresses. PNEUMATIC TENT CO. Ltd. April 14, 1961 [Jan. 14, 1960], No. 1468/60. Heading A4M. A mattress consists of a slab of foamed plastic having, on one side, ribs of tropezoidal cross-section which may be also sinusoidal longitudinally. Slads 1, 3 may be joined by means of a rib 2 engaging a recess in the other slab. The mattress when rolled up is retained in a case 4 consisting of a rectangular sheet provided at each end with a stiffening bar and held rolled by toggle clips 6. In a modification conical ribs form a series of corrugated rows and the mattress is rolled in a rectangular sheet and secured by cords. The foam material includes or has upon its surface a decomposition inhibitor or dessicant such as anhydrous calcium sulphate.
