[Also in Divisions D1 and E1] A slat structure has flexible restraint bands 11, 21 and 34 (Figs. 1, 3 and 7 respectively) secured on one side of the slats 10, 20 and 33 and blocks 13, 23 and 36 on the other; both slats and blocks abut when the structure is rigid. The rigidity may be ensured by a cable 17 passing through the blocks (Fig. 1) or through U-shaped metal members on the blocks (not shown); by locking elements 29 (Fig. 3) on a flexible steel strip 27; or by rods 39 held together by cross pieces 40 and adapted to enter slots 38 in the sides of the blocks 36 (Figs. 7 and 8). The structure may be a partition, wall, floor, roof or boat. The material of the slats may be wood and the restraint bands may be steel or a plastic sheet. Specification 975,942 is referred to in the second Provisional Specification.
