Abstract

999,197. Stud and socket fastenings. PITSTONE ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Nov. 26, 1963, No. 46603/63. Heading E2B. [Also in Division A4] A releasable fastening, e.g. for securing a mattress handle 7 to a mattress wall 1, comprises an expandible stud having a head 6 and body 5 and formed with a socket 10 extending to a transverse slit 12, and a spigot 18, 19 formed with a pair of parallel sides 16, the spigot being received in the socket 10 and forcing apart opposite sides of the slit 12 to expand the terminal portion of the stud behind a stud-receiving eyelet 2. The spigot may be of metal and have a rectangular cross-section. The stud may be of polyethylene or high impact polystyrene. Specification 937,350 is referred to.
