Abstract

977,007. Knife handle fixings. EKCO PRODUCTS CO. Oct. 8, 1963, No. 39571/63. Heading B4K. A knife having a blade with an integral tang 14, has a moulded handle 10 having a tangreceiving recess 11 extending rearwardly from the front face 12 and having upright side walls conforming to those of the tang, the upper marginal portion of the recess defining a cavity 11a of circular cross-section adapted to receive an inverted channel member 17 secured to the upper edge of the tang, the tang and channel member being bonded to the recess by adhesive material 20. Lips defined by opposite lower edge parts of the channel member 17 are received in grooves in opposite faces of the tang 14. The entrance to the recess is closed by a bolster plate 21 through which the tang extends and which fits in a depression in the front face of the handle.
